Have you ever used a typewriter? If so, you must be very old.
The BBC News UK article “UK's 'last typewriter' produced”
reports that the last machine has been donated to London’s Science Museum by a
manufacturer Brother due to a decreasing demand in the UK. This could be the
end of typewriter manufacture in the UK.
Before a computer is widely used, a typewriter is very
practical equipment which facilitates us to do some kind of typing neatly. It
is a common tool in every office. However, it is now almost completely replaced
with computer. We hardly see any one use it at the present. We still find it
useful in a piece of work that want remind us to the past.
I think it is a good idea to house the unused typewriter at
the museum because there may be several people do not know what a typewriter
looks like. Some people who are not born during the popular period of
typewriters rarely have a chance to see them. Therefore, keeping them in the
museum makes people realize the evolution of typewriters.

This article remind me when I studied typing with typewriters. Of course, it is not similar with typing on keyboard however we needed to push a large amount of force into the edge of our fingers to type each letters. Except spending lots of energy, our works might finish later than typing on keyboard because when we pushed on each button on the typewriters, this process not only need our power but also need time because they have no processor as computers.
