Disney comes out with its first Latina Princess
Backlash
for Disney's first Latina princess
CNN article “Backlashfor Disney's first Latina princess” by Cindy Y. Rodriguez reported
that Disney exactly makes “Princess Sofia” as a first Latina princess character.
"Sofia the First" will be the television movies. It will firstly
promote to public on November the 18th through the Disney Channel
and Disney Junior, aim at children ages 2-7. Some think that this new princess
would be a great chance for USA citizen to accept the Latin American culture.
Others criticized what they saw just a lack of Hispanic cultural or ethnic
identity in the Sofia character.
Personally, I
believe that Disney has a good intention for promoting its new type of princess
character, like it use to create the princess who are African-American, Chinese,
and Native Indian American. But Disney has to work harder on doing this kind of
creative project because if they interpret Latino identity for Princess Sofia
in a wrong way, some people especially for Hispanic may think that Disney is
look down on them.

I really enjoy watching and reading all Disney's cartoon. I think that the portrait is very beautiful and imaginery.
ReplyDeleteI believed that too. Disney has big influence for people especially children. I hope that it help to make children with a broad outlook.
