Performance Art
Performance art is a type of live art where artists have chosen as their medium the body and its movement rather than sculpture or painting. A focus on the body in so much performance art of the 1960s has sometimes been seen as a consequence of the crisis in international media Its main inspiration is from Dadaism. Dada is more of montage, collage and the ready-made. Performance had been a feature of avant-garde art. Theatre is practiced many times and the acting is done like a schedule while performance art is through feelings and on the spot. That is one of the reasons why performance art is the choice of medium for female artists. Performances might be a one on one type or at a large theatre and it can last from a few minutes to hours. Performance Art became popular in the 1970s where music, poetry, VDO record and dramatic art were performed. Live art, body art, happing, action, some activities of fluxus and feminist also became part of Performance Art too.
Feminist art – art created around the radicalism of the 1960s and 1970s associated with western feminism, has been hailed even by its harshest critics as one of the more important international art movement of the post war period, . Feminist art became more popular because of the women’s movement. It is also to tell men that women can do anything they want to do. In my opinion women are used to using their own body to communicate to the audience of what they are doing everyday in life. “Performance art offers women a unique medium for making a direct unmediated address. Performance is about the ‘real life’ presence of the artist.
And show the men those women now possible to have equality. The feminist art movement was based on political and social opinions where the artists try to make the audience understand that women nowadays have the ability to do many things and that men should not look down on them. This sort of direct performance gives the artists a type of strength that not many art mediums can give. Most of feminist performance was done naked and about the body because women in that time wanted to challenge traditional restraints of modesty, which were imposed on women and which were not applied to men.
summary
Performance Art something to performance out of theatre no script and plays about body or use body become part of it. Many female artist use performance as their medium because it new art not need to follow anyone or any past art easier to crate something new. And feminist artist would like to communicated to everyone that women and men equality, whatever men can do women can do also even on body naked.
