Children with no state in UK

Children 'with no state' in UK

The BBC Inside Out London article Children with no state in UK report that a great number of homeless youths in UK are stateless people who struggle for years to survive. Most of them are migrants who came to the UK legally, but were never officially registered because they escape from the control of their guardian. Although some of them were born in UK, they still could not be considered citizens of Britain because their parents don’t want to contact the government authorities for fear of banishment. Thus, children may be left on the street with nothing to declare who they are and it is too difficult for them to gain British nationality. And without proper documentation, their home-countries will not allow them return. As a result, they do not have rights to access fundamental welfare. Now many organizations attempt to try to get the children out off the streets into a better place as quickly as possible.
Personally, I believe that every nation-state, in our postmodern time, has to be ready not only for
a straightforward test of national power but also for a trial in which every strategy comes into play.
And the humanitarian issue is one of the most significant dilemmas topics that we have to be
reconsidered about. For example in northern Thailand provinces, we face the problem with
minority group who ran away from Myanmar’s political conflict. They had to live in Thailand with
no choices and their babies also were born in our land. Even though these stateless children
did not be able to acquire Thai citizenship, the government gave them rights to get the basic
education and social insurance. So I think that humanitarian aid is one of the essential factors
for the national security. Apart from humanity, if we still don’t provide the youths without state
the basic needs that I have mantioned before like education and so on, the children won’t have
any good guidance to practice in their life and the country will get many troubles in the future.

  1. After I read this article, I suddenly thought that in Thailand we have the same problem as in the UK.
The is one of the critical problem in humanity. So, the government should address this problem and find the way to help those people.
