Sleepless Nights: How to Help with Insomnia

Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates’ article “Sleepless Nights: How to Help with Insomnia” by Dr. Jonathan Harland reports that a person who has difficulty in falling asleep or experiences poor sleep, can has better night by his instructions. First, they must try to do everything possible to reserve their evenings for relaxation in order to get a good night sleep. Second, they have to maintain their consistent sleep schedule because it is so important. Finally, they should not eat too much food and avoid some alcohol before going to bed.

According to my point of view, this article is very helpful for someone who suffers from their sleeplessness. I think his suggestion is logical. And it might be greater to add something about regular exercise in the morning or afternoon. I think that helps me a lot in my daily life.

  1. I don't agree with the last reason of the summarize because many people drink alcohol, after that they sleep well even if on the road.
I think we should avoid coffee and tea more than alcohol.

    1. I agree with you. I know many people are suffered from insomnia accused the reason why they drink alcholic drink because it make them easily sleep. However, from my personal experiece, even though I have cups of coffee or tea before I go to bed, I still can sleep easily.

    2. At the first time that I listened it (that alcohol needs to be avoided), I didn't understand for the same reasons that Peace and Mori wrote about. However, after I could realise that is the truth, and what Cindy said before is correct. We can be affected by drinking alcohol before go to the bed because this can make us to sleep quickly, but it can make us wake up many times during the night or wake up tired in the morning. It is happens because the use of alcohol interfer on the time to reach REM sleep, making this time longer.
