The REM Revolution.

"The REM Revolution" from Scientific American, tells the revolution of dream theory which was in 1953.
Nathaniel Kleitman of the University of Chicago and student assistant in his sleep laboratory, Eugene Aserinsky,
They studied the eyes movement and from the test subject they found that during overnight sleep, they had four to six periods of eye twitching and named this phase "Rapid Eye Movement (REM)". Kleitman discovered the brain was extremely active during the REM phrase and the muscles were practically flaccid during REM sleep.
The duo began waking their subjects during the high point of REM sleep and asking them if they had been dreaming. The result showed from 80 to 95 percent had a dream. Also, REM sleep occurred in almost all mammals not just only human.

As we can see there are many theory about why we dream, Scientist put their afford to discover the properly explanation of why we dream. Personally, I've never pay attention on my dream at all and rarely remember it.
However, when I've learn about this session, it turns me to reconsider my dream whether it have a meaning? and why I dreamed. According the all the theories I read, I appreciate to all research that scientist work which even can help people who suffering from their dream.
